There are many ways that marriage counseling can help improve your marriage and put you and your spouse on the right path together. However, there are times when you may feel that the weekly therapy sessions just aren’t providing you the traction that you’re looking for. You may feel that right when real progress is starting to be made, the session is out of time and you need to wait to pick it back up in a week. Or, your marriage may be falling apart and you don’t feel you have time to wait from week-to-week to address the serious issues you’re facing. If you can relate, or you’re looking for a solution that can help you and your partner take large strides in your relationship, a marriage intensive can help.
Marriage intensives are private, personalized 2 to 5-day programs designed for couples interested in an intensive and effective approach to marriage counseling. You and your spouse meet with a licensed marriage counselor to do deep work on addressing your relationship challenges. There is a large body of research that supports the therapeutic outcomes from couples intensives as opposed to weekly sessions.
This extended and focused time in counseling provides you and your spouse with the time and space to truly dig deep into the real matters of your heart and obstacles in your relationship. It provides an opportunity to uncover the solvable, unsolvable, and overwhelming parts of your relationship (including addictions and affairs). This allows you to gain insight into your challenges and deeply understand one another so you can learn and practice research-based strategies to help you deal with them as you move forward.
Unlike other marriage intensives or couples retreats, I advocate for the marriage but not at all costs. The objective of my marital therapy is to support a couple in their relationship goals.
As a Christian counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Gottman Therapist, my work is both professional and non-denominational. I believe that people have the right to be happy in their marriage and that children greatly benefit from healthy marriages. I believe the most important goal in marital therapy is to follow the truth and to do that with love and respect.

2 Day Marriage Intensive
During a two-day Marriage Intensive program, you and your spouse can choose between 11 or 16 hours of therapy with a licensed marriage counselor. We will make every effort to tailor the program to meet the specific needs of you and your spouse.
Program includes:
- 11 or 16 hours of personalized marriage counseling
- Breakfast and lunch
- Extensive treatment plan to follow when the intensive is over
Is the 2-day program right for you?
This program may be right for you if you’re experiencing significant distress in your marriage or are looking to enhance an already good relationship. However, due to the short amount of therapy time, we recommend the more extended programs if your desire is to thoroughly work through the issues.
The two-day marriage intensive format is helpful for couples who have just discovered trauma in their relationship, such as an affair, as it allows you to gain traction and momentum as you take the first couple of steps toward recovery and reconciliation.
The two-day program is often used:
- Couples who are in crisis and have specific issues they want to work through
- As a follow-up for longer intensive alumni to work through specific issues as they move forwards

- 16-hour program - $2,500
3-Day Marriage Intensive
The three-day Marriage Intensive program provides you access to a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in your choice of settings. It can be held at the Tampa Bay Christian Counseling Center office in Tampa, FL, or at a predetermined beach location in Pinellas County, Florida. The beach experience is offered to provide you with an all-inclusive marriage counseling retreat.
Throughout the three days, you’ll receive approximately 20 hours of therapy. Since this intensive is working exclusively with you and your spouse, we’ll make every effort to tailor the program to meet your specific needs.
Program Includes:
- Approximately 20 hours of marriage counseling
- Three nights of lodging (if the bed and breakfast option is chosen)
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner (daily)
- Extensive treatment plan to follow after the intensive
Is the three-day program right for you?
This program is appropriate for almost every couple regardless of what you’re experiencing. The three-day format provides extensive flexibility in scheduling throughout each day allowing for longer breaks and times set aside for relaxation.

5-Day Marriage Intensive
The five-day marriage intensive program provides the most attentive care of all our programs and is held in a beach location in Pinellas County, Florida. While all of our marriage intensives are tailored to your specific needs, this longer format allows for the most amount of flexibility.
Program Includes:
- Approximately 36 hours of marriage counseling
- Five nights of lodging at a beach location
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (daily)
- An extensive treatment plan for you to follow after the intensive
Is the five-day program right for you?
We are comfortable that almost every couple would be appropriate for this program regardless of what they are experiencing. The five-day marriage intensive is clearly one of our most expensive and time-consuming programs. If you can afford the expense and are looking for a comprehensive marital therapy experience combined with a vacation, feel this can be a great choice.
